Grower Profile
Since 1997, under the new regime of Jean-Hubert Delon, radical restructuring of the chateau has been taking place. Michel Rolland was hired as consultant oenologist. In August 1999, 4 hectares were purchased near the vineyards of Le Pin and Chateau Trotanoy. Nénin has come to produce wines which are much fuller and more powerful, with cleaner black fruits and chewy tannins. The 25 hectares of vineyard are located in relatively close proximity to the northeasterly outskirts of Liborne and planted with 75% Merlot and 25% Cabernet Franc on a South-exposed alluvial gravel bed, with areas rich in quartz, granite and clay. 1997 also saw the introduction of a second wine "Fugue de Nénin" which is made from vines younger than those which produce the Grand Vin.
